The Mahidol Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit (MORU), Bangkok, Thailand is a well-established and highly productive research collaboration between the Faculty of Tropical Medicine, Mahidol University, the University of Oxford, and the Wellcome Trust (UK). The unit conducts world class research into some of the greatest threats to global health in the 21st century. The main research interests are the epidemiology, diagnosis, pathophysiology, pharmacology and treatment of infectious diseases throughout Asia and elsewhere in the developing world.

The unit is seeking a Head of Clinical Trials to lead and manage a team of Clinical Trials Coordinators, Data Managers, statisticians, public and community engagement staff (currently 20 strong). As a member of both the Science and Strategy and Management Committees, the Head of Clinical Trials will provide input into key decisions and strategic direction of the unit.

The unit also requires an experienced scientist to lead the laboratory and bioanalytical work within the pharmacology department ensuring that the current high levels of quality research output are maintained. The department of Clinical Pharmacology located at the Mahidol University in Bangkok is widely recognised as one of the best in the world for the quantification of antimalarial and anti-influenza drugs in biological samples. This research is used to improve treatment regimens, and has had a major influence on the currently recommended treatment regimens for malaria and influenza.
